The most technologically advanced and largest 3D printing factory in Europe, Investor - company Materialise, is located in Bielany Wrocławskie, at the motorway to Wroclaw - now one of the largest IT centers in Poland. More to read about 3D printing at Materialise website - Materialise. Construction 2016 - 2017.
Factory designed by Horn Architects was finalist (26.06.2019) in the competition for investors of industrial objects located in economic zones managed by Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A. (the Industrial Development Agency JSC). More about the competition - at ARP website, article in Polish. ARP S.A. by organizing the competition in this way encourages entrepreneurs to consciously shape the architecture of the workplace and to implement ambitious and valuable architectural projects.
The architecture of the factory reflects the concept of 3D printing, which is an additive manufacturing production method of layered, selective laser sintering of white polyamide powder. This is symbolic idea of white solids of buildings and white concrete framing of windows and main entrance, as well as horizontal louvres on main elevation of the offices.
The object consists of two buildings - production and office, although both are inseparable in the production process, as in offices IT specialists prepare digital models, then sent to printers.
The common canteen, which will be equipped with colorful furniture, is meant to serve all employees as a meeting, lunch and rest place, with the outdoor terrace connected to the canteen.
Laboratory aesthetics of production and communication spaces is consistent with the high level of 3D print technology in which human participation is based on the preparation and managing of digital information for printers and printing monitoring. The space connecting the office and the production buildings serves the integration and resting of the staff team.

High quality indoor work environment is an element of sustainable design. We spend most of our time in buildings, so it is so important in the workplace: adequate microclimate and daylight, ergonomically designed interiors to ensure physical and mental wellbeing, and the possibility of resting outdoors in contact with green and aesthetic surroundings.
